Marketing Assistant Position Available

In this role, you'll raise awareness of our mission of providing wigs and support services at no charge to Michigan kids & families in need.

Job Title: Marketing Assistant

Location: St. Clair Shores, MI

Reports to: Maggie Varney, Founder & CEO and Jennifer Fisher, Development Director

Status: Full-time or part-time opportunities available
Payscale: $16-$20 depending on skill set

Job Overview: Do you want to do something that has an impact? We're looking for talented & caring individuals to join our team. Maggie's Wigs 4 Kids of Michigan provides wigs and support services to children ages 3 to 18 at no charge throughout the state of Michigan. Founded in 2003, we have served over 5,600 children and the need for our services is great. We are seeking a marketing assistant to work onsite at our Wellness Center in St. Clair Shores on day-to-day marketing tasks and pre-planning for our Annual Gala. You will work closely with Maggie Varney, Founder & CEO, and Jennifer Fisher, development director.

Key responsibilities:

• Compose and distribute press releases, media advisories, etc. Contact the press to garner coverage of newsworthy stories outlined above and also events/fundraising opportunities for community engagement.

• Designing and editing marketing materials using Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Publisher, PowerPoint. This includes general brochures, pamphlets about upcoming programming activities for wig recipients & families, handouts for information packets, mailings.

• Send out newsletters monthly utilizing Vertical Response and emails to wig recipient families about classes, field trips & social activities.

• Help create content for social media utilizing Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Poster My Wall, etc. (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Pinterest, TikTok.) This includes posts, Facebook Lives, Instagram Reels & TikTok videos.

• Keep the website current - updating the blog, events and fundraiser pages, adding press articles online and updating additional interior pages as necessary.

• Update digital signage inside the Wellness Center utilizing Photoshop and the LG SuperSign TV.

• Create billboard designs for display digitally throughout the community.

• Perform other duties as assigned by the Founder & CEO and Development Director.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years of experience in graphic design.

• Software proficiency (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Microsoft, etc).

• Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Associate's degree or higher.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work at a desk for extended periods and lift up to 10 lbs. occasionally for office tasks.
