Ambassador Spotlight - Lauren

1. Tell us about yourself! (school, hobbies, favorite activities…)

I am a 16 year old Junior at Grosse Pointe North High School. Math and Science are my best subjects and I plan to go into Engineering in college. I have been in the G.P.N. Choraliers, Pep Band, Jazz Band and Full Orchestra for several years. Last year I joined the Grosse Pointe Gearheads. They are a robotics team comprised of students from both Grosse Pointe North and South. I love being with these groups and being around my friends."

2. Do you have any summer plans?
"I recently received my driver's license. I hope to be driving and hanging out with my friends after recovering from my second surgery at the end of May. In July I will be going to Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp near Muskegon for two weeks. In August my family and I will be going to Little Mary's cabin for a week. This is a cabin retreat near Manistee offered to families that have a child with a severe illness."

3. What surprised you about Wigs 4 Kids or receiving a wig?
“I was surprised by the amazing amount of love and kindness I received from Wigs 4 Kids. They are not just a company, they are a family and I am grateful that they have adopted me."

4. If you had to give “words of wisdom” or advice to younger kids, what would it be?
"Cancer is just a bump in the road on life's Highway. Don't let is take you off course and put the pedal to the metal."

5. What is your favorite vacation spot?
"Best vacation spot would have to be, swimming with the dolphins in Tortola British Virgin Islands. The dolphins were so lovable and amazing. This was part of my Make a Wish trip where they sent me and my family on a Caribbean Cruise to Coco Cay, St. Martin and St. Thomas the best vacation ever!"
